Data Lead

Love music? Love data? Want to be part of an emerging global business? We are seeking a Data Lead who can help take us to the next level in processing and performing entity recognition across music data information from a diverse range of official sources and formats. We’re processing all of the relevant data using the latest AWS methods and then designing exciting new solutions for the music industry. Responsibilities

  • Collaborate on the design and implementation of the core platform: a distributed, multi-tier web application.
  • Designing and implementing data models, sourcing information from APIs and 3rd party integrations.
  • Designing and enhancing a bespoke metadata supply chain.
  • Working on performing advanced entity recognition using everything from perfect identifiers to conceptualising and developing complex inferred data matching.
  • Passion for AWS products and desire to keep up with the latest advances.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in a STEM field: Engineering, Maths or Computer science
  • Passion for technology, data tech and desire to keep up with the latest advances.
  • Do you have any pet projects, a git portfolio, frameworks, languages or tools that you’re passionate about?
  • Experience planning and estimating work in an Agile team.

Requirements

Data Analyst Points
  • 5+ years’ experience with PostgreSQL (or equivalent)
    • Experience troubleshooting/resolving database integrity, performance, and replication issues
    • Experience with query optimisation and performance tuning
    • Experience with bulk data importing, transformation and enrichment
  • Experience documenting of database structures and maintaining descriptions on all relevant fields in database
    • Experience in making architecture recommendations to ensure optimal performance
Operational Points
  • Unix environments. You will need to know your away around a Unix box. We use Macs for development and deploy on Linux servers
  • Experience in Amazon AWS a must - we are on the cutting edge of solution architecture, and constantly looking at what new AWS products are available to streamline our workflow.
    • RDS and relational DBs, are a bonus
    • Working with Amazon S3 lambdas, SQS and step functions, are a bonus
  • Experience planning work for a team and co-ordinating with project managers and other team members,
  • Experience in versioning and rollout and rollback plans.
  • 3+ years of Java. We're a Grails shop, so Java is essential. You can learn Grails quickly.
Systems Architect Skills
  • Experience in keeping data secure, safe and compliant with privacy standards.
  • Experience in creating performative solutions and optimising for speed.
  • An ability to evaluate new products and services and assess their utility in solving challenges.
  • An understanding of cross-regional infrastructure replication.
Scientist points
  • Strong skills in the following scripting languages used in analysis:
    • Python (experience is using Jupyter Notebook and libraries such as pandas and Numpy are a plus
    • R (a plus, we use Python)
  • Experience in entity recognition, proximity scoring or deduplication and linking processes
  • Analytical algorithm skills
    • Natural Language Processing (NLP)
      • Stemming, trigrams, etc.
    • Working with machine learning algorithms, e.g. neural networks
    • Clustering
    • Initial data investigations

Integration Engineer

We are seeking an ETL Engineer with a deep, unstoppable love for databases to join our exciting, game-changing and fully funded start-up. Responsibilities

  • Working in a tightly-knit, fast moving agile product team of both front and backend developers, designers, data scientists and database analysts.
  • Help to scope and maintain the ETL process for Jaxsta as we head towards greater automation.
  • Build and maintain data loading and integration for production systems using ETL tools.
  • Handling inbound/outbound documents, conducting auditing, handling relevant documents, and networking with partners.
  • Serving as the initial contact for troubleshooting inquiries.
  • Responding to maintenance issues.
  • Monitoring document transmissions.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve relevant processes.
  • Perform audits to ensure quality standards are being met on a regular basis, and keep staff up to date on technology changes.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience working with API based web portals, as well as experience with Big Data, AWS and Ubuntu will be highly regarded for this opportunity.
  • Experience working with PostgreSQL.
  • Experience with ETL or ELT development using languages such as Python, or Java frameworks such as Grails.

Bonus

  • Computer science degree preferable.
  • Java development experience across Grails or another JVM language.
  • Interest in RedShift, Hadoop or Graph Databases as well as high-performance and scalable data stores.
  • Knowledge of advanced PostgreSQL modules such as pg_trgm, ltree, etc.
  • Understanding of the music industry supply chain - any DDEX, Streaming Service or Publishing exposure or knowledge is a massive asset.
  • Contribution to Open Source, with links to source, articles or conference talks.
  • Passion for technology, and desire to keep up with the latest advances. Do you have any pet projects, frameworks, languages or tools that you’re passionate about?

Part Time Accountant

This a is a truly flexible role with the option to work 3 days or 5 short days you chose… and in a funky and fun environment with the best soundtrack in Sydney.

Jaxsta sits at the intersection between music and cloud-based technology and we’re keen to share our world with an efficient, smart human with hustle to take on the essential role of Accountant in our Darlinghurst HQ.

About You

  • You know your stuff – with Bachelor level degree in accounting or commerce and 7+ years’ experience in management / financial accounting.
  • You are a member of a professional accounting body, CA or CPA preferred.
  • You are good at delivering high quality management reporting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the preparation of annual financial statements.
  • Strong working knowledge of GST and payroll tax compliance.
  • Commercial analysis of financial information.
  • Ideally you have experience working with Xero or similar accounting system.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of budgeting, forecasting and financial modelling, including Excel modelling skills, would help you hit the ground running but isn’t essential.
  • We’re Google all the way - experience in G suite is an advantage.
  • You are a smooth operator - with excellent time management and organisational skills with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.
  • You are as flexible as we are – and can adapt quickly to last-minute changes, taking them in stride while maintaining a pleasant manner and motivating spirit.
  • A strong work ethic with a hands-on commitment to take initiative with upcoming tasks and get projects completed.
